How Do I Join the SCFM Yahoo! Group?

First, do you already have a Yahoo! accout? If so, you'll only need to email the web coordinators from an email account that is set up in your Yahoo! groups account. If you don't know what email address that would be, keep reading.

1. Open a Yahoo! account
   1. Go to http://www.yahoo.com/
   2. Click on the link to sign in
   3. There is a heading that says "Don't have a Yahoo! ID?". Under that heading is a link to "Sign Up." Click on that.
   4. You are required to enter the following information:
      • First Name
      • Last Name
      • Preferred Content
      • Gender
      • Yahoo! ID
      • Password
      • A secturity question
      • The answer to your question
      • Your birthday
      • Zip Code
      • Security code

      There is no reason why you have to enter your real name, gender, birthday or zip code. You might get some advertising that doesn't pertain to you given your fake gender. If you make yourself under the age of 18, you might get censored content and you won't be allowed to use the personnal ad features.

      The perferrred content is actually about location and language. Again, there's no compelling reason to tell the truth on this one, so long as you choose a language you can read.

      Your Yahoo! ID and password are things you get to make up. The ID has to be unique in the Yahoo! site, so be creative. They'll give you suggestions if you come up with something that is already taken. Its how you'll sign into the Yahoo! site.

      Yahoo! will ask you your sucurity question if you ever forget your password. If you don't answer it the way you answer it when you fill out this form, you won't get your password reset.

      The security code is an image that is designed to be unrecognizable by robots so that only real people are able to set up Yahoo! accounts. If you enter it incorrectly, they'll give you another one.

2. Set up, see or change your preferred email account
   1. Login to http://www.yahoo.com/ using your Yahoo! username and password
   2. On the right-hand side of the page, it should say, "Hi [firstname]" with the first name you entered when you set up your account. Click on that name.
   3. It will probably ask you to confirm your password before taking you to your account information.
   4. There is a box entitled, "Yahoo! ID Card." There are three sections in this box. The middle section is called "Member Information" and has an edit button to the right of that title. Click on the button to edit any of the information in that section.
   5. Fill out any changes you want to make and click "Finish" at the bottom of the page.

      If you add a new email address, you'll recieve an email at that address. It will have instructions in it on how to confirm the email address. You won't be able to use the email address in your Yahoo! account until you follow those instructions.

3. Send an email to the web coordinators from an email account that is verified in your Yahoo! preferences. We'll let you know when you're set up. It should happen within a few days at the very most.
